Student Services
At first, being financially dependent on their children, parents prevented our students from attending school regularly. In response to this, StreetWise reprinted student artwork from art class and launched a product line of cards & stationary. The products are then distributed at premiere retail shops to generate income for the students and for the school.
50% of the products’ gross profits goes to the Student Income Program, earning students a monthly income, which incentivizes parents to keep their children in school away from street labor. Students twelve and above, earn a monthly income of Tk.1,500 while those under twelve, earn Tk.1,000.
Monthly savings from the Student Income Program, directly goes to the Student Reserve Fund. The Student Reserve Fund is used in case of emergency and/or for student awards in recognition of extraordinary performance.
The other 50% goes to the Student School Fund to sustain StreetWise’s operations, enabling students to ‘learn and earn’ and board at StreetWise.
StreetWise provides students with financial advice. We help students understand savings and financial planning and facilitate banking services if required.
StreetWise offers regular medical attention for its students. It oversees administration of vaccinations, daily vitamins, medicine and hospitalization when required, regular medical check-ups and consultations, and manages student and family health records. We have developed partnerships with local medical facilites: KC Memorial Hospital, The Dhaka Eye Hospital, Independent Pediatricians [and are looking for partnerships with pharmaceutical facilities.]
StreetWise provides crisis assistance to families in need of legal, social services or other kinds of support.
